Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated specialist pharmacist to join the Liver Pharmacy Team at King's College Hospital.

The Liver Unit at King's College Hospital is a world-renowned tertiary referralcentrefor liver transplantation, complex hepatology, viral hepatitis, hepatobiliary surgery and liver intensive care.

The post holder will work as part of the liver pharmacy team to lead, provide and develop specialist clinical pharmacy services to the Hepatology division and will provide a dedicated clinical pharmacy service to liver intensive care. The post holder will also support the Principal Pharmacist for Hepatology in managing the team.

The post holder will liaise between wards, departments and pharmacy to ensure that pharmacy services are tailored to meet the Care Group's needs wherever possible.

As well as providing a highlyspecialisedpharmacy service to the in-patient liver wards and liver theatres,the post holder will also actively participate in pharmacist led outpatient clinics. Excellent communication skills are required as the post holder is expected to provide specialist pharmacy advice to primary and secondary care healthcare professionals and patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure the continued provision and development of high-quality, clinically led pharmacy services, influencing senior clinicians and managers within the liver and critical care divisions while managing junior pharmacy team members. This role involves delivering a clinical pharmacy service at an Advanced level, as defined in the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum.

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based pharmaceutical care to liver service users. They will support liver wards by participating in consultant-led multidisciplinary rounds, promoting good prescribing practices, and delivering outstanding patient-centred care. Additionally, they will contribute to training, guideline development, clinical audit, and service evaluations.
