Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Post-Acute Medical Physiotherapy Team at Orpington Hospital for a Band 7 Team Lead Physiotherapist to cover one year maternity leave.
Candidates should have wide experience in post-acute medicine and should have excellent communication, clinical reasoning and problem solving skills.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will share joint responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Post-Acute Medical Physiotherapy team on the health and ageing unit (HAU) at Orpington Hospital covering general and adult medicine, frailty with support from the Clinical lead Physiotherapist.
They will also have a clinical caseload, teaching and supervision responsibilities, day to day operational management of the team, and quality improvement projects and clinical governance responsibilities in conjunction with the Clinical lead Physiotherapist.

To provide highly specialist physiotherapy intervention for own caseload of patients with a variety of medical and frailty conditions, in an acute hospital setting. To assess, treat and manage own caseload using highly specialist knowledge and skills as an autonomous practitioner, including the maintenance of comprehensive records. To undertake a team leader role, alongside the Clinical Lead Physiotherapists in managing, planning and delivering the physiotherapy service for patients with medical and frailty conditions. To deputise for the Clinical Lead Physiotherapists in her/his absence. To supervise, teach and develop less experienced physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and student physiotherapists. To take part in the on-call emergency rota and work a 7 day pattern.
The successful candidate will work as part of the wider physiotherapy team based at the Princess Royal university Hospital and Orpington Hospital as part of Kings College Hospital assisting and leading on service development and quality improvement, ensuring a high standard of Physiotherapy care is provided and ensuring the well being of their team.

Essential
- BSc or recognised postgraduate MSc in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the HCPC
- Working at a Masters level, as demonstrated by ongoing CPD, evidence based project work, external post graduate lecturing
Desirable
- Member of CSP
- MSc in related subject
- Member of suitable specialist group e.g., AGILE
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Wide-ranging post graduate clinical experience including respiratory, rehabilitation and musculo-skeletal conditions
- Specialist post-graduate experience in elderly medicine / rehabilitation including orthopaedics and neurology

- Good assessment skills and varied rehabilitation techniques
