Job summary

The post holder will work as a key member of the BIU management team to efficiently manage and develop the Corporate and Performance Information reporting functions, in line with the strategic objectives of King's College Hospital, and significantly contribute to the strategic direction of information management within the Trust.

The purpose of this post is to provide an information and analytical service to the Trust's divisions and operational teams that supports the organisation's performance and clinical objectives.

Main duties of the job

To work with the other senior managers within the BIU to ensure the Trust's corporate data warehouse and other internal performance reporting systems are developed and updated as necessary, consistent with both internal Trust and external information requirements.

To proactively lead ad-hoc requests within the department, ensuring consistency of communication and quality of outputs.

To review and have an understanding of external benchmarking data and act as an expert for clinical leads, division and business/service managers on accessing and using this information.

To support the Head of Business Intelligence in addressing the Trusts information and analytical requirements; providing staffing resources, analysis and reporting to divisional management and other senior Trust personnel.

To develop new and different uses of information resources through investigative analysis, taking a pro-active approach to future developments and constant liaison with divisions and BIU staff.

To ensure that divisions are provided with detailed performance and activity information for operational and strategic purposes via the monthly scorecard performance reports.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level of demonstrative equivalent experience within a data role
  • Postgraduate qualification

Desirable

  • Information Management qualification
  • Project Management qualification
  • Specialist Training in a data science language

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of patient access targets and the wider NHS Performance Framework
  • Proven delivery of reporting to Board level
  • Highly proficient knowledge of NHS Data Dictionary
  • Ability to translate National guidance into insightful analysis

Desirable

  • Experience with EPIC and Clarity/Caboodle
  • Evidence of database management and/or improvement of processes

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Proven ability to problem solve and to achieve change, while at the same time balancing competing demands
  • Expert IT skills (eg use of spreadsheets and databases - Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle)
  • High level verbal and written skills
  • Highly numerate and able to translate data into insights
  • Experience managing a team
