Specialist Medical Engineering and Connectivity Technician

Job summary

The post holder will work as part of a diverse and multidisciplinary Medical Equipment Management Service team to ensure the safe use of medical devices across the Trust.

The post holder will carry out acceptance testing, servicing and repair of complex medical equipment and devices, and will be responsible for supporting medical device connectivity related issues across all sites of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Training of clinical staff in the use of medical equipment will be occasionally be required. The post holder will take part in workshop rotas and timetables, and maintain records of all completed work timely and accurately on the comprehensive equipment management information technology system.

The department is registered to EN ISO 13485 and the post holder will assist in developing systems to achieve high standards of quality across all MEMS activities. Where necessary the post holder will undertake training in order to develop, upskill and fulfil the evolving needs of the role.

Main duties of the job

To assess and maintain equipment and devices for use in health care services:

- Assess new medical devices/equipment for clinical use.

- Commission and accept new medical devices/equipment for clinical use either in the clinical area or within MEMS.

- Calibrate and verify electrical / electronic equipment in the clinical area.

- Conduct complex fault finding / repair on electrical / electronic equipment.

- Handle and store equipment and consumables within acceptable safe limits.

- For applicable medical devices ensure that medical device integration and connectivity is successfully implemented/achieved.

- Maintain connectivity of medical devices.

- Assist/Play active role in any future medical device integration projects or phases.
