Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Liver Team at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Fibro Scan Technician.
This is a new post to support the broad multi-disciplinary team in the provision of a high quality fibro scanning service to children and young people with liver disease. This role would require a dynamic, hard-working individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to develop a new service. Training will be provided but relevant experience in a busy healthcare setting and working with children, young people and their families / carers is essential.
Main duties of the job
To safely perform fibro scans liver/spleen on children and young people (CYP) within the paediatric liver service, in both the inpatient, outpatient, day-case and theatre / endoscopy units / day-case units.
To work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high standard of fibro scans are performed.
To develop the fibro scan service in partnership with the wider team.
To arrange maintenance of the fibro scan machine and calibration of the probes.
To be responsible for accurate data collection and audit information of the fibro scan service.
To communicate effectively with CYP and their families / carers, ensuring that the procedure is explained in full, any questions are answered, and verbal consent is obtained.
