Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our experienced Endoscopy team here at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill site. At the Denmark Hill site we have 5 procedure rooms we scope on average 1000 patients per month. We have an establishment of almost 74 registered nurses.
The endoscopy unit is supported by a dynamic pre-assessment and PDN team. Our service provides both diagnostic and complex and innovative therapeutic endoscopic procedures and is led by experts in their field. The department is recognised at national and international level for its specialist procedures, demonstrated in several forums, conferences written papers over recent years. Applicants should have NMC registration and be able to demonstrate significant endoscopy experience including the ability to cope with complex management issues. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse with a broad range of endoscopy experience, audit skills, demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to actively contribute to service development. The successful applicant will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of all nursing evidence required for the JAG Accreditation process, and to support the overall service standards required by JAG.
The successful l candidate will have an opportunity to be part of the endoscopy team who have achieved JAG accreditation since 2019. A key playing in driving the department into the future of our continued success.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should have NMC registration and be able to demonstrate significant endoscopy experience including the ability to cope with complex management issues. The aim of this role is to support the provision of high quality patient care within the endoscopy unit. The candidate will be expected to maintain and improve quality in accordance to JAG and Trust standards, while also maintaining efficiency in a busy unit.
The expectation is the candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team on a daily basis, including nurses, service managers and clinicians.
This role requires the successful candidate to be highly independent with minimal day to day supervision. Maintaining and writing new policies with efficient and detailed record keeping and action plans. It requires exceptional time management and keep to deadlines. They will need to have confidence to present audits and action plans at regular user group meetings.
They should also be responsible for the development of staff to facilitate the extensive audit programme to meet JAG standards. They will also support the team in preparing for CQC visits and act as a quality champion in all areas of the department. This will include regular surveys of patient and staff satisfaction. Ensure the department is achieving high scores in monthly Trust quality audits.
