Job summary

This post provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist with a clinical pharmacy background to join the Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Womens and Childrens Pharmacy Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering a high-quality, clinical service to the expanding neonatal unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital site with opportunities for cross-site working.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work across other areas of Women's and Child Health including general paediatrics, maternity and gynaecology

Main duties of the job

Key activities of the post holder will be to:

Lead on the expansion of the high-dependency neonatal unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital

Ensure delivery of optimal pharmaceutical care

Develop neonatal transitional care services across all sites

Assist with ongoing optimisation of Epic Electronic Healthcare System across neonatology

Provide extensive pharmaceutical care and medicines management services to areas across Women's and Child Health

Deputise for the Principal Pharmacist Women's and Children's

Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and other clinical meetings

Participate in clinical audit, risk management and clinical guideline development

Provide supervision, education and training to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • MPharm (Masters Degree)
  • Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent qualification / experience
  • Registered Independent prescriber or willingness to complete

Desirable

  • Member of the RPS faculty

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice
  • Knowledge of regulations and legislation relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of Pharmacy

Desirable

  • Demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Be able to provide highly complex Information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy and financial issues to all levels of healthcare professionals (up to and including senior consultants/professor level)
  • Be able to analyse and interpret complex clinical information where there are a range of facts requiring analysis and where a range of options need to be compared
  • To have basic keyboard and computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, report generation and presentations)
  • Ability to work well under pressure by prioritizing and managing time effectively
