Job summary
This is an established post, bringing the complement of Senior (Post FRCS) Fellows within the Department of Orthopaedics, bringing the number to eleven, of which Five are dedicated Trauma Fellows. There are also 12 Registrars, and Seven are part of the South East Thames Orthopaedic Training Programme. The On-call at King's consists of a separate rota for the Senior Fellows and the Registrars, with each Grade on-call on any given day. The Senior Fellows do not do nights-on-call, but are instead on-call during the Weekends.
Main duties of the job
Applicants are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in the Department of Orthopaedics at King's College Hospital.
The post holder will provide senior cover for the Knee Firm.
The fellowship is ideally suited to candidates who already have successfully completed the FRCS (Orth) examination.
Post holder is expected to start on 2nd September 2024

This is a senior, post-fellowship position, designed for candidates at the end of their registrar training or equivalent. It aims to provide both the skills and experience for a successful future career as a consultant with a specialist interest in knee surgery and trauma.
The Knee Unit at Kings College Hospital provides a wide range of surgical experience for the successful candidate. In addition to both primary and revision knee arthroplasty, the unit has wide experience is ligament reconstruction, in particular multi-ligament surgery, given the Hospitals status as a Major Trauma Centre.
In addition, the Unit regularly undertakes partial knee replacement surgery as well osteotomies around the knee and osteochondral transfers in selected young patients.
There is opportunity for Research and Teaching within both the Knee Unit and the wider Orthopaedic department.

In addition, the Department organizes a renowned, bi-annual Kings FRCS Revision Course. The post-holder will be expected to contribute both to the course teaching and organization, as well as other teaching as required.
