Job summary
Applications are invited for the position of Locum Consultant Vascular Surgeon, at Kings College Hospital to commence as soon as possible for a period of 12 months. There is likely to be a substantive consultant job available later during the year.
The unit provides a full range of vascular surgical procedures for elective and emergency admissions. The service is well supported by vascular radiologists and a fully equipped vascular laboratory.
The successful candidate will join the team and work flexibly to cover the varied workload and service commitments.
Main duties of the job
The Trust in partnership with King's College London and Guys & St Thomas' Foundation was approved Academic Health Sciences Centre (King's Health Partners) and as part of this has recently opened a new £30 million research institute with a major cardiovascular focus. It is expected that the successful appointee will deliver an outstanding clinical service and support the integrated academic-clinical vascular unit.

- FRCS or equivalent

Desirable
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD)
Training and Experience, Administration, Management and Leadership.
Essential
- Wide experience in all aspects of vascular surgery, culminating in award of CCT or equivalent.
- Specialist training in aortic and peripheral endovascular surgery
- Experience in day to day organisation of vascular services in a busy Teaching Hospital
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable
- Experience in vascular trauma
- Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
- Management course and/or qualification

- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement.
