The Clinical Pharmacy Service at King's is highly respected across the Trust and our staff work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to advance patient care. We are patient-centred, research-oriented, progressive and innovative department. We work alongside senior managers and clinicians to provide comprehensive directorate services.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist to join our well established pharmacy department and education and training team at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH).
The successful candidate will lead on all aspects of education and training at the PRUH site and act as the Education Programme Director for Trainee Pharmacists cross site.
This post is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills to work expand on the excellent reputation of the Trust's education team. Gaining experience with the renowned King's Health Partners, and the STEP program.
This post provides many opportunities for personal and professional development, both clinically and managerially, as you will also be expected to deputise for the principal pharmacist E&T.
The post holder will be required to participate in the provision of clinical pharmacy services at the PRUH site as needed.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
- The education, training and development of all Pharmacists at the PRUH site
- Act as the education programme director (EPD) for all Trainee Pharmacists at King's College Foundation Trust.
- Support the Principal Pharmacist E&T with the tutoring and management of STEP Pharmacists (Structured Training and Experience for Pharmacists) where needed.
- The provision of professional leadership and advice on all Pharmacy training and development issues.
- Support the Principal Pharmacist - Education, Training and Development in the preparation of strategic plans for Pharmacy training and development
- Participate in the provision of pharmaceutical care at ward level.

Education and Training
- Act as the education programme director (EPD) for all Trainee Pharmacists at Kings College Foundation Trust.
- To be responsible for the education, training and development of all Pharmacists at the PRUH
- To take part in and ensure that all junior pharmacists receive accompanied ward visits to support their development
- Develop strategies for obtaining trainee and patient feedback to inform local policy for pharmacy training and the local faculty group
- Collaborate with pharmacy and primary care partners in south east London and Kent for cross-sectorial training opportunities
- To provide the Deputy Chief Pharmacist, PRUH and the Principal Pharmacist E&T with details of output, performance and activity at specified time intervals in the agreed format.
- Monitoring the training and study leave policy at the PRUH site.
- To support statutory and mandatory training and appraisals at the PRUH site
- To liaise with clinical pharmacy practitioners to identify how best Pharmacy training and development can be utilised to meet patient needs and manage risk.

- To develop multi-professional learning courses with PGMDE for nurses, allied health professionals and doctors.

Clinical Responsibilities
- To participate in the provision of clinical pharmacy services across the PRUH as needed
- To write TTAs (drug lists) across the PRUH as part of the clinical pharmacy service
- To support the Deputy Chief Pharmacist (PRUH) to ensure successful implementation of all CIP schemes related to the Trust Drug Expenditure Project.
- Propose, contribute to, and participate in, pharmacy service developments and quality improvement projects in line with departmental and Trust priorities.
People Management and Performance
- Lead, coach and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices. Ensuring excellence is recognised and underperformance is addressed.
- Participate in regular performance appraisal meetings and ensure each member of the team has a clear set of objectives and development plans.
- Ensure the team is compliance with all statutory, mandatory training together with any professional training requirements, ensuring they are up to date and fully compliant.
- Manage team absences including sickness in line with Trust policy ensuring the appropriate return to work meetings occur, e-roster is updated and productivity is at keep to the highest possible level.
- Identify and fill any vacancies that arise within the team in line with the Trusts recruitment policy and process.
- Identify talent and support the internal talent management process in order attract and retain and succession plan for your people.
