Job summary
King's College Hospital Radiology Department is looking to recruit a Cardiac MRI Lead Radiographer to be responsible for the CMR service at Denmark Hill .
In conjunction with the Lead MRI Superintendent the post holder will work closely with a multidisciplinary team healthcare professionals to ensure the timely, efficient and cost effective day-to-day management of the CMR Service at the Denmark Hill site in line with the department's operating procedures and protocols, while ensuring the provision of the highest standards of patient care.
As a clinical expert in the field of CMR, possessing significant post-qualification experience in a wide range of MRI procedures, the post holder will be able to work autonomously within their specialist area, maintaining their expertise to the highest level, and will be accountable for their own professional actions.
As a member of the management team the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of the department's strategy and will be responsible alongside the Superintends for implementing local, Trust and national policies.
They will have the knowledge and confidence to give specialist advice and guidance to patients and other health care professionals.
The post holder will demonstrate clinical and professional leadership and will lead on the supervision and teaching of radiographers and student radiographers, and will contribute to the line management of the MRI team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a pivotal role in both the operational and clinical aspects of both the MRI and wider Radiology service at Denmark Hill. This includes but is not limited to:
- Providing clinical leadership to MRI Radiographers.
- Maintaining an expert level of technical knowledge within the modality
- Using this knowledge to help achieve best possible patient outcomes; develop new and existing staff members' competencies and deliver a safe service to patients.
- Ensuring CQC requirements and responsibilities are met
- Ensuring Clinical Governance is regularly reviewed and up to date, working in collaboration with the Clinical Governance Lead Radiologist and Radiographer.
- Line management of Radiographers and Radiology Department Assistants.
- Working with and assisting the Lead Superintendent Radiographer on all operational matters related to the safe and effective delivery of the CMR service.
The successful applicant will be a HCPC registered radiographer and will hold either a BSc in Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers.
The post requires excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to providing quality care in both the technical and patient facing aspects of the role.

- The post holder will provide MRI Superintendents with support, expertise and assurance for effective governance, management and coordination of the CMR service.

- The post holder will be an experienced radiographer, able to assess and treat own workload of patients/clients and to ensure provision of the highest standards of patient care. Including the legal documentation on the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) associated with each completed patient episode.
- They will be able to consult with senior staff as and when necessary, and will be accountable for their own professional actions. They will assess, manage and prioritise the caseload of the department, giving advice and guidance to patients and other health care professionals.

- The post holder will lead on the supervision and training of Radiographers, Student Radiographers as appropriate and will be responsible for developing and updating the training package for the CMR Service.
