We are looking for a Band 6 Home Haemodialysis Junior Sister/Charge Nurse
If you enjoy teaching and have a strong desire to help, haemodialysis patients remain as independent as possible, then this is the job for you.
Must be a registered nurse with Renal Course, Mentorship/998 or any relevant teaching qualification.
The team are responsible for both the assessment of potential new patients keen to join the programme and their training, as well as providing ongoing support for established patients performing Home Haemodialysis. You will provide home visits if these patients are having a particular dialysis problem. You will work closely with the Home Haemodialysis Clinical Lead Consultant as well as the Home Haemodialysis technical team.
Once fully acquainted with our current processes, procedures and most importantly, our patients, you will help to steer the programme through the next stage of its expansion.
Working Hours: The team currently operates (37.5 hrs), Monday to Saturday. The hours will be worked on a rotational basis, 8am to 4pm and 9am to 5pm.
The current base for the Home Haemodialysis Team is Sydenham Dialysis Unit. Patient training is undertaken in the new designated training area's at Sydenham Dialysis Unit.
Main duties of the job
You will need to use your excellent communication skills and your ability to teach with clarity and enthusiasm! You will need to be skilled in haemodialysis and be willing to become an expert with regards to using and teaching others about our current equipment.
You and your Nurse Manager will train and look after these patients autonomously once they are at home but with the full support of one of our Consultant Nephrologists, the wider Home Therapies team and our hospital and satellite dialysis teams.
Due to the nature of the job, all team members are required to drive and therefore must hold a full, clean driving license. We have a Lone Working Policy to ensure that staff visiting patients at home are kept safe and supported.
