Static Stroke/Permanent Post - Princess Royal University Hospital

Band 7 , 37.5 hours per week

The therapy department has around 300 staff across Occupational Therapy (OT), Physiotherapy and Speech & Language Therapy. Each service is organised under a Head of Profession with a Chief of Therapies heading up the services and representing Therapies across the Trust. There is a strong emphasis on staff learning and development within the department.

The static stroke post at the PRUH offers excellent opportunities for maintaining and developing further specialised clinical skills within Hyper Acute and Acute Stroke Rehabilitation environment.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a caseload of patients with using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust OT service.
  • To monitor and advise in the allocation of students in the Stroke
  • To regularly supervise rotational staff , OT assistants and OT students on practice placement.
  • To co-ordinate supervision and appraisal of Senior and Junior staff.
  • To work across professional groups to ensure high quality and timely services are provided to patients.
