This is a fixed-term contract for 18 months undertaking a level 2 apprenticeship within King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The Neurosurgery team are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and forward thinking individual to undertake the role Apprentice MDT Assistant at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This role involves coordinating the administrative pathway for patients' pathways in regards to the Neurosurgery MDT.
As a member of the Neurosurgery team you will enjoy working closely with the consultants, clinical nurse specialists, secretaries, and outpatient staff and will be able to use your initiative in order to ensure efficient MDT meetings and data collection processes. Your skills will include excellent organisational, IT, communication and problem-solving skills, alongside the ability to work as part of a team and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
The Apprentice MDT assistant plays an instrumental part in the smooth running of the department; therefore a positive attitude, commitment to supporting the service and a flexible approach to the role is essential. A willingness to learn and develop skills will be positively encouraged.
Full training will be provided for this. A values session will be provided by the Learning & Organisational Development Team.

MDT Meetings preparation, support during meeting, delivery of actions after meeting Updating Information systems such as EPR, PIMS, CRIS, IEP and Excel Spreadsheets. Systems Liaising with MDT teams to ensure good preparation for meetings, and actions from meetings are carried out Patient Tracking and Navigation through the MDT pathway. Communication and coordination with MDTs of patient care pathway Support MDT Coordinator team with meetings, as required
Specific ResponsibilitiesThe range of tasks will include: To be responsible for the identification and correction of missing data To meet deadlines as set by the MDT Coordinator within Neurosurgery To be responsible for the provision of timely and accurate information to other staff disciplines To provide the MDT members with appropriately produced information for MDT meetings in relation to patient referral and scan information. To liaise with Radiology, Pathology and health records to ensure that patients information is up-to-date on the cancer information system To provide general administrative duties to the multidisciplinary team to include photocopying, filing, basic clerical duties and distributing documents quickly and efficiently To carry out follow-up on those patients discussed at the MDT ensuring, the treatment plan and all other relevant information is disseminated to relevant care providers and investigations, procedures and Out-patient appointments are made. Answer telephone calls when coordinators are out of the office or when required and action appropriately. Check all e-mails to both own address and team addresses. Action urgent e-mails immediately and flag non urgent e-mails to be dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner Open and appropriately manage all post delivered to department, date stamp and action appropriately. To provide cover for the MDT Co-ordinator during planned or unexpected leave To carry out any other duties as required by the post

Participate in annual performance appraisal in line with the Trust policy.
Training will be provided on site and virtually and the successful applicant will be required to work towards:
- Level 2 Diploma in Customer service
- Functional Skills Maths and English Level 2 (GCSE C/4) (If not already obtained)
- Undertake End Point Assessment
