King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for an experienced Senior Telecommunications Engineer to join the existing team of seven onsite engineers.
The telecoms team is responsible for supporting the voice network infrastructure and end user telephony devices across all of the Trusts sites, both in and out of hours. It is a multi-site role, and you could be asked to work on any of the sites depending on business needs
The Telecoms Team support a mixture of more than 10,000 VoIP and TDM extensions across all platforms.

Main duties of the job
The job holder will be able to diagnose and clear faults on telephone exchanges, external lines and internal cables to maintain the stability of the telephony infrastructure
And pro-actively monitor complex and diverse systems to ensure this. Duties will include management of applications for
Voicemail, call logging and bleep / paging as well as the installation, allocation and activation of data and telephone outlets in any area within the Trusts sites.
Ensuring adherence to agreed policy, procedure, and SLAs at all time.
Using experience and knowledge will enable the post holder to offer competent technical advice and assistance to user departments and departmental system managers and liaise with external companies concerning telecom issues and managing faults. This could include providers such as BT, Gamma, Mitel, Daisy, Netcall.
Supervision of engineers employed by the Trust and any 3rd party staff working on Trust communication equipment is part of the role, as is maintaining accurate records of all system configurations changes including installation and de-installation work, some of which will be highly complex.
Training of Trust Staff to set up and use intricate telephony applications, i.e. ACD groups, and writing documentation, such as SOPs, as required.
Mandatory 24/7 on-call is required as part of the team across multiple sites to diagnose and clear system faults either onsite or remotely as they occur, including liaising with 3rd parties out of hours.

- Can work across functions, telecommunications, data, and voice.
- Oversee and carry out the installation, allocation and activation of data and telephone outlets in any area within the Trusts sites,
- Assist with the writing of documentation for in house local working procedures as required.
- Line manages and train junior engineers.
- Be part of an on call 24/7 team across multiple sites. Diagnose and clear system faults as they occur calling 3rd parties out of hours as needed
Required existing skills:
- Educated to HNC level (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific subject
- Qualification in customer service such as an NVQ to level 3
- Previous experience of working with highly complex voice network environments.
- Installation and maintenance to Second / Third Line Level of at least one of the following, Mitel Mivoice business. ISDX, Ascom
- A good understanding of DPNSS, ISDN, SIP, and routing.
- Strong operational VoIP and IP telephony systems and data network integration knowledge
- Proficient when dealing with Telecoms suppliers of line plant.
- Maintain a high level of expertise in the Telecommunications applications field.
- Practical exposure to Wi-Fi voice implementation and support.
- Wide experience of paging systems, telephone interfaces and paging circuits.
- Good computer application skills, such as MS Office, and software installation.
- You will be able to work effectively on your own, under pressure of deadlines and be able to prioritise your own workload with minimum supervision.
- Able to produce accurate written diagnostic and recommendation reports.
- Take the initiative by identifying work that needs to be done and take appropriate action.
- Ability to interact with a wide range of people including medical staff, non-technical users, and managers at all levels, suppliers, contractors,
