Job summary

Do you have a passion for theatre nursing; are you a trained scrub or anaesthetic nurse / ODP? Do you want to help improve patient care and the service? If so, we have fantastic opportunities to join our dynamic and established teams.

At the Newland Day Surgery Unit at Queen Marys Hospital in Sidcup, we can offer experience in ophthalmology, maxilla-facial and dental surgery. You will have career development opportunities and the opportunity to rotate through the different specialities to extend your experience in theatre nursing.

This is a great opportunity to join the QMS (KCH) theatre teams to become part of the dynamic theatre workforce delivering high-quality and patient-centred peri-operative care while developing your skills and expertise in various specialities.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide high-quality care to patients and support to relatives
  • To work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide continuing care to a group of patients from admission to discharge in the department.
  • To participate in teaching and supervising junior staff and student learners as required.
  • To maintain own personal development with support

Clinical Practice

  1. To deliver a high standard of evidence-based care to a specified group of patients.
  2. To adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and standards for registration at all times.
  3. To maintain confidentiality at all times.
  4. To support patients, relatives, carers, and friends and where appropriate involve them in the care of the patient.
