Job summary

This post attracts R&R premium of £5K per annum (pro rata).

We are recruiting a specialist in vascular ultrasound imaging.

Ideally you are an SVT accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist or graduate of the STP scheme in vascular science with supplementary experience. This role offers:

  • A full range of vascular investigations and the interesting and varied pathology seen in a tertiary referral centre
  • Further development in scans such as renal artery duplex scanning, dialysis fistulas, transcranial imaging for children with sickle cell disease, as well as ultrasound guidance for interventional procedures
  • Opportunities to be involved in teaching and training of STP trainees, junior doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • A supportive team environment but with autonomy, sometimes running clinics and lists in other units
  • A well-equipped department with top of the range scanners, air conditioned scanning rooms, PACS & RIS connectivity, and full admin support
  • Protected time for project work

We are a responsive team with a reputation within the trust for providing an excellent service to patients and referring clinical teams. We enjoy close and positive working relationships with many of our colleagues around the trust including those in Vascular Surgery, Renal, Diabetic Foot Clinic and Radiology.

Situated in Denmark Hill the main hospital has good transport links to a range of suburban areas to live as well as easy access to everything the heart of London has to offer.

Main duties of the job

  • Performing and reporting vascular ultrasound scans
  • Supervision of vascular scientists in training
  • Escalating urgent findings
  • Providing expert advice based on scan reports and referrals
  • Assist on occasion with administrative/operational running of the department
  • Treat all patients with care, respect and dignity

The post will require candidates to work at all sites across the organisation and other sites around south east London.

  • Perform, interpret and report independently on specialist diagnostic tests on patients in response to request from clinicians:
  • Analyze requests from clinicians and select appropriate tests and prioritize them according to clinical need and resources available.
