Are you a motivated individual ready to take advantage of this great opportunity to work within the dynamic and highly skilled Multiple Sclerosis nursing team at Kings College Hospital? The team consists of Senior and Junior Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultant Neurologists, Clinical Pharmacists and MS infusion Nurse.
We are currently recruiting into a permanent post for theband5 MS Infusion Nurse role.
The Multiple Sclerosis department runs a daytime service from Monday to Friday with 9-5shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 8-4 shifts on Tuesdays and Fridays.
We are also looking to recruit (post no 2) into the Neurology Infusion Unit, a newly built department where patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis and other neurological conditions will be receiving their intravenous therapies on a regular basis.
Candidates employed to both posts will be working a similar working hours pattern.
The candidates must:
-Be a level 1 registered nurse with an active NMC registration
-Beproficient in venepuncture and cannulation
- Have a minimum of one year post graduation experience
-Have excellent communication skills
-Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and be enthusiastic to learn the specialty
Clinical experience in Neurology, or long-term conditions would be an advantage and you must have a 'can do' attitude to the care of your patients.
An experience in the administration of monoclonal antibodies infusions would be welcome.
Main duties of the job
Our tertiary Neuroscience Wards and teams provide care for patients from all over the UK , London and Kent at King's in south London. We perform 3000 neurosurgical operations a year, Provide tertiary Neurology care and you experience the very best in tertiary Neuroscience. You will be well supported by a highly visible senior nursing team, PDN's and Clinical Nurse Specialists as well as world Leading Consultants.
You will have the opportunity to work with existing and emerging therapies used in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis, and practice advanced skills in managing the condition as a whole.
The team is committed to providing expert specialist care to people with MS throughout the disease trajectory, supporting patients in the in-patient, outpatient and day care setting. A telephone advice service is also provided.
The candidate must:
Be a level 1 registered nurse.
Beproficientin venepuncture and cannulation.
