An exciting opportunity has arisen to support Neurosciences across London though this new role 'Data Analyst and Project Manager'. The post is funded through the national NHSE Neurosciences transformation team via the London Neurosurgery Networks.

The role will be hosted at King's College Hospital through the current Network hosting arrangements but will require travel to sites across London as well as some remote working.

The senior data analyst and Informatics Project Manager will work with the specialised networks - Neurosurgery networks, spine networks and rehabilitation networks across London and also the tertiary provider organisations and NHS London.

Main duties of the job

The principal responsibility of the role is to manage the production of consistently high quality information for the Specialist Networks and Strategy teams within NHS London and the developing ICBs. There will be a comprehensive induction programme to support and align the post holder with the five Integrated Care Boards across London and the service providers involved in Neurosciences across London.

This role will also play a key role in integrating with the NHSE data teams, GIRFT programme leads and business intelligence teams within provider organisations.

As a pivotal member of the Neurosciences networks (neurosurgery, spine and neuro-rehabilitation), the post holder will advise team members on how to develop a robust information capture strategy, and then lead on the capture, processing and interpretation of this information. They will use information to map out current patient population within the region and work towards modelling future service provision based on this.

This Data Analyst / Informatics Project Manager will be an expert in their field. They will be required to possess an advanced level of analysis and investigative skills and be able to resolve complex analytical queries and issues, where there is a range of solutions and analyses. They will also be required to interpret and resolve highly complex statistical and information problems where there is no precedent or where leading opinions may conflict.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop innovative information capture and reporting mechanisms to assist strategy managers and clinicians across the London networks within Neurosciences. This will include providing information and analytical support for the evaluation and validation of the various large programmes that are being undertaken particularly focusing on the development of a regionals network in London and the South East region relating to Neurosciences.

  • Develop modelling tools and techniques to aid analysis of complex activity relationships for regional capacity planning and service redesign.

  • Support the delivery of The High Impact Actions over the next 5 years primarily through supporting and informing the decision making process for large scale programmes such as the North and South London Neurosurgery Networks.

The five High Impact Actions have been identified through the National NHSE Neurosciences Programme, and are:

  • Establishing optimum pathways
  • Flow improvements
  • Quality and Safety improvements
  • Theatre and productivity improvements
  • Outpatient improvements

  • Contribute to the development of an information culture across the neurosciences networks and provider organisations that are partners within networks.

  • Lead, manage and ensure the successful delivery of various clinical informatics projects, including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Create a new rolling programme of strategic review projects, focusing on particular areas of activity within those five high impact actions to inform future strategic decisions.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Creation and ongoing management of complex and detailed information sets that will be used in partnership with clinical and managerial staff to inform decisions on service provision and delivery across the region, as well as the financial impacts of system-wide change

  • Creation and ongoing management of clinical outcome and performance reports for the London region to assess system-wide and individual organisational successes and areas for development and link with colleagues within NHSE southeast region.

  • Form formal working relationships with IT, informatics, 2-week-wait office and coding departments in host organisation, partner organisations, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHSE and national database systems e.g. model hospital and GIRFT.
