Job summary

King's College Hospital Radiology Department (Denmark Hill) is looking to recruit a CT Superintendent to provide responsibility for the CT service at Denmark Hill and support the Lead CT Superintendent within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a pivotal role in both the operational and clinical aspects of both the CT and wider Radiology service at Denmark Hill. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Providing clinical leadership to a large group of fixed and rotational staff
  • Maintaining an expert level of technical knowledge within the modality
  • Using this knowledge to help achieve best possible patient outcomes; develop new and existing staff members' competencies and deliver a safe service to patients.
  • Ensuring CQC and IRMER requirements and responsibilities are met
  • Ensuring Clinical Governance is regularly reviewed and up to date, working in collaboration with the Clinical Governance Lead Radiologist and Radiographer.
  • Investigating adverse incident reports and implementing any potential learning outcomes.
  • Line management of a large group of junior and senior staff members
  • Participation in the Radiology Performance Manager roster on a rotational basis
  • Working with and assisting the Lead CT Superintendent Radiographer on all operational matters related to the safe and effective delivery of the CT service.

The successful applicant will be a HCPC registered radiographer and will hold either a BSc in Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers.

The post requires excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to providing quality care in both the technical and patient facing aspects of the role.

In conjunction with the Lead CT Superintendent the post holder will work closely with a multidisciplinary team healthcare professionals and radiologists, to ensure the timely, efficient and cost effective day-to-day management of the CT department at the Denmark Hill site in line with the departments operating procedures and protocols, while ensuring the provision of the highest standards of patient care.

As a clinical expert in the field of CT, possessing significant post-qualification experience in a wide range of CT procedures, the post holder will be able to work autonomously within their specialist area, maintaining their expertise to the highest level, and will be accountable for their own professional actions.

As a member of the radiology management team the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of the departments strategy including formulating and implementing workforce plans and equipment replacement projects and will be responsible alongside the Lead Superintendent for implementing local, Trust and national policies.

They will deputise for the Lead CT Superintendent in their absence will have the knowledge and confidence to give specialist advice and guidance to patients and other health care professionals.

The post holder will demonstrate clinical and professional leadership and will lead on the supervision and teaching of rotational and dedicated CT radiographers, assistant practitioners and student radiographers, and will contribute to the line management of the rotational radiographic team, as delegated by the Lead Superintendent team.
