Job summary

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly and dedicated Diabetes and Endocrine team within the Princess Royal Hospital as a Band 6 Junior clinical nurse specialist working with the multi-disciplinary team within the Endocrine Service. This is a newly created role following investment into the service, it will be varied, interesting and crucial to ensuring an excellent patient experience every step of the way.

This post is expected to be the key contact for patients under the care of the Endocrine service, providing face to face and telephone appointments, supporting the Junior doctors with referrals from the inpatient wards and working closely with the Planned Investigation Unit.

This is a developmental post designed to support the successful candidate through a competency programme to progress to a Band 7 Endocrine CNS.

Main duties of the job

Job Summary

  • To work as the senior nurse, delivering a specialist nursing service within Endocrinology.
  • To manage a caseload of patients/clients under the supervision of the clinical team.
  • To assist in the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
  • To ensure patient and their families are fully informed and supported.
  • To provide specialist education and training to patients, families and carers.
  • To provide specialist education and training to staff.
  • To establish clear lines of communication within the speciality team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients.

  • To assist in the delivery of a seamless service through the development of enhanced Multidisciplinary team (MDT) processes and communications.
