Job summary

This is a superb opportunity to join a growing team of enthusiastic and forward-thinking histopathologists at a top teaching hospital in the heart of south London. Joining our department at this pivotal time will give successful applicants a unique opportunity to develop specialist interests across a wide range of areas, and help to shape the service for years to come. Whether you consider yourself a leader or a team player, a teacher or an academic, we have a place for you here at King's. We are an inclusive, friendly and supportive department, serving a large and diverse population with a fascinating range of pathologies. The current consultant team comprises a fantastic combination of dynamic and experienced pathologists at various stages of their careers. We are committed to supporting new colleagues and place a high value on work/life balance.

Main duties of the job

The Department has been pivotal in the regional amalgamation of molecular pathology work with our molecular pathology lead, Dr Kalnisha Naidoo, leading the Genomics Lab Hub (GLH). There is a strong emphasis in engagement with molecular pathology within the Department and academic/research opportunities arising from this area.

If desired, there will be opportunities for cross-site working, both at our new state-of-the-art centralised pathology hub which is due to open in Blackfriars, and at our sister-site, the Princess Royal Hospital in Orpington. We are in the process of introducing digital pathology, which will allow for the introduction of hybrid working in the near future.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.
