Specialty Dentist in Oral and Maxillofacial SurgeryFull time/Job share
KCH invites applications for the position of Specialty Dentist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery post, based at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.
The post holder will be involved in:
- The provision of Minor Oral Surgery procedures under Local anaesthetic, with and without intravenous sedation.
- To assist with the provision of Day Case Surgery procedures under general anaesthesia..
- To assist in the surgical treatment of patients requiring the removal of dermatological lesions of the head and neck.
- To provide pastoral care to Foundation Year trainees and to be responsible for their Annual Leave co-ordination.
- To offer induction, supervision and training to Foundation trainees while based at Queen Mary's.
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Dental Council, have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience. The post holder must have experience in Oral Surgery

Main duties of the job
Clinical Services in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup are delivered in a multidisciplinary environment in partnership with the departments of Orthodontics, Oral medicine and Restorative Dentistry.
The service delivered by the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup is based on the extensive use of local anaesthesia with and without intravenous sedation, day case general anaesthesia and in-patient facilities at the Denmark Hill site.

Together with the other clinical staff, to provide a service for all Oral Surgery patients at King's. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department.
To supervise and teach junior members of the OMFS team
To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trusts R&D framework where possible
To observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff
To be responsible, with management support, for your personal development and to actively contribute to the development of colleagues.
To be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control
To be accountable for implementation of the Code of Practice within own department/area of responsibility
To prepare for and undertake the protective interventions that you are responsible for in a manner that is consistent with evidence based practice and maintaining patient safety
