Job summary

The Department of Urology, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for enthusiastic and committed Urology Surgeons to work cross- site and support us in developing our cutting edge centre of excellence.

This is a full time post (10 Programmed Activities) with additional programmed activities available subject to negotiation with the successful candidate. Applicants should have a broad experience of Urological Surgery.

The Department of Urology at King's College Hospital is split over three main sites at Denmark Hill, The Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington and providing outpatient clinics at Beckenham Beacon in Beckenham. King's College Hospital's vision for the urology service is to deliver a seamless service, provided across these sites with the future vision to ultimately work through a single on call rota. Our outpatients unit based at Beckenham Beacon will continue to be invested in and developed as the state of the art dedicated urology diagnostic centre for the Trust with specialist, one stop cancer and local anaesthetic (LA) TP prostate biopsy services.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will undertake a combination of outpatient sessions and operating lists across PRUH sites and be expected to take an active role in research and development. All consultants are encouraged to participate in the teaching programs of the department with trainee doctors.

The urology department has developed specialist services including:

  • LUTS and Day case GreenLight laser prostate surgery
  • Minimally invasive and laparoscopic / robotic surgery for cancer including cryotherapy
  • Andrology including penile implants and infertility
  • Kidney Stones
  • Urodynamics, Incontinence and Neuropathic Bladder management
  • Prostate cancer and outpatient LA Transperineal biopsy
