Job summary
Full-time Cardiology Research Fellow concentrating on the MIRACLE framework and studies as well as inpatient support for the Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest Survivors Support Service.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will ensure all studies and activities associated with Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest and the MIRACLE scoring tool are running efficiently. This includes RAPID-MIRACLE, GLOBAL MIRACLE and the OOHCA Survivors Clinic and inpatient support programme.
The postholder will work under the close supervision of Lead OOHCA Cardiology Consultant Dr Nilesh Pareek and alongside the friendly and supportive Cardiac Research department led by Jonathan Breeze.

Job responsibilities
This is a one year post as Interventional Cardiology Research Fellow. The post holder will be responsible for conducting research under the supervision of, Dr. Nilesh Pareek, Dr Jonathan Byrne and Professor Philip MacCarthy. The theme of this research will be Predicting outcome in cardiac arrest and will further develop the existing programme of work in this area. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct this research as part of a higher degree (MD or PhD).
The post holder will be expected to have a strong academic background and will be working closely with other members of the Interventional research team. Close collaboration will also be expected with the other Cardiology Research Fellows and the Research Nurses. The successful candidate will provide support to commercial trials in structural intervention.
Whilst this is principally a research post, some clinical work will be expected at the discretion of the supervising Consultants. This may include outpatient clinics or sessions in the catheter laboratory (depending on individual experience). The successful candidate will not be trained in coronary intervention during the tenure of this post. The post-holder will also be expected to teach undergraduate medical students and may be involved in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching in other areas.
