Working Part time: 30 hours per week
This exciting opportunity has arisen within the Operating Theatre Department at the Countess of Chester Hospital. The successful candidate with be responsible for the operational management of the Obstetric and Gynaecology Theatres. Elective and emergency Gynaecology surgery is carried out in Main and Day surgery theatres. At present elective Caesarian Sections are undertaken in Main Theatre, emergency Caesarian Sections are undertaken by the theatre team in the Maternity Unit.
Later this year new Theatres will be completed in the Maternity Unit where it is planned Elective and Emergency Caesarian Sections will take place.
You will also be involved in the daily running of the Operating Theatre Department in the Manager of the Day or Coordinator role ensuring productivity, efficiency and effective use of the theatre environment.
Main duties of the job
To lead a competent theatre team delivering a safe, efficient and effective service, meeting demands while showing best use of all resources (staffing, physical and financial).
Development and improvement of theatre services. Overseeing and managing risk and incidents within the area.
Being responsible for maintaining health, safety and security of self and others while implementing best practice.
Attending Daily Safety Brief + Look Back Theatre Utilisation meetings in the Manager of the Day role.
Be aware of and manage speciality budget.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
