The post of Senior Medical Education Fellows will work across the Medical Education department. It would ideally suit doctors wishing to expand their clinical teaching experience and is anticipated to appeal to those thinking of out of programme training or who would like to gain more experience in undergraduate medical education.
This is a 10 month fixed term post working in medical education. The working pattern would largely fixed days for the Medical Education department with some flexibility to support continuous professional development and other teaching opportunities.
The post offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated doctor to join dynamic, rapidly expanding teams delivering medical undergraduate, multi-professional education and clinical services within the emergency medicine department.Due to the short term nature of the role/service demand, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the GMC, must have completed a Foundation Programme Equivalent qualification, completed core training of a relevant specialty (or equivalent level) and must have existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application.The successful candidate must have at least 6 months experience of working within the NHS and have a good understanding of UK medical undergraduate training.
Main duties of the job
Support the delivery of Medical School curricula, and responsibilities may include:
- Bedside teaching
- Clinical skills
- Lectures
- Simulation based teaching
- Support the provision of AIM course to University of Chester Medical students
- Clinical supervision and Educational supervision of undergraduates
Attend clinical educational opportunities where appropriate.Maintain a portfolio of education and undertake an appraisal at an appropriate interval.To participate in continuing professional development.
To participate in clinical audit and or quality improvement (QI) project.Support medical students from all Universities.To comply with Trust policies and procedures, have (and maintain) GMC registration/licensing.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
