Working hours - 1 x 27 hr post per week
We are a 16 bedded unit for Critical/Acute Cardiac patients.Six beds are coronary care beds where we provide cardiac monitoring and level 2 cardiac care. We also provide remote telemetry monitoring to other areas of the Trust.
Following a staffing review, we have expanded our Band 6 Nursing team to provide a 24/7 Team Leader role with Deputy Ward Manager responsibilities. This role will require the candidate to regularly rotate on to nights as per the roster requirements.
Candidates should have comprehensive Cardiac Nursing Experience to enable them to lead and to appropriately support the Nursing Team.
Main duties of the job
- Team Leading responsibility and supporting the ward manager in a deputising role.
- Creating and maintaining of the rosters to ensure safe staffing levels and skill mix.
- HR management, including absence management.
- Undertaking audit and being committed to monitoring standards of care that leads to the improvement in patient care and thereby contributing to ward accreditation.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations and assisting in out of hours emergency cardiac procedures.
- Develop own skills, competencies and knowledge and support junior colleagues in their development.
- Ensure your daily practice fulfils your professional roles advocate and accountability
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs, transfer and discharge arrangements.
- Undertake comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Involve patients and carers/relatives in the decisions about treatment, planning and delivery of care.
- Ensure own compliance and compliance of others with regard to mandatory training, CPD and revalidation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with policies, standard operating procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others.
