Job summary

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that day to day educational activity runs as effectively and efficiently as possible. The ability to identify activity variances and pressures is essential, as is the ability to problem-solve and provide solutions in order to improve educational performance against the required targets.

The postholder will work closely with the Medical Education Manager to continue to develop the wellbeing programme for students and foundation doctors.

Main duties of the job

  • Plan, co-ordinate and evaluate medical education programmes, assessments and exams in line with external quality standards against the curricula for all years of students.
  • To provide advice and knowledge in issues relating to medical education sharing information through multidisciplinary education and training.
  • To plan and co-ordinate educational placements for medical students ensuring that they comply with education curricula and quality standards.
  • To operationally manage the medical education administrators, coaching and leadership as well as conducting appraisals, performance and providing appropriate training and development opportunities and ensuring that Trust policies and standards of behaviour are adhered to.
  • To co-ordinate and maintain information relating to students and doctors in training, ensuring that it is up to date and available for internal updates and reports to demonstrate compliance with external audits and quality visits.
  • To make welfare support accessible to students and doctors in training, including counselling services, career guidance and support where necessary.
  • To deputise for the Medical Education Manager in his/her absence.
