We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated East Cheshire employee who would like to upskill and progress their career by joining our Radiology Department at Macclesfield District General Hospital as an Apprentice Diagnostic Radiographer. The successful candidates will enroll on a 3-year Apprenticeship Radiographer Degree program at Keele University in the January 2026 cohort.

Main duties of the job
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the job advert, job description and person specification.
The successful candidate will be based within the Radiology Department of Macclesfield Hospital blending on-the-job learning with online and in-situ teaching at Keele University. Although the training will be based at Macclesfield Hospital, apprentices will be rostered to all East Cheshire sites and some spoke placements to gain a wide range of experience. It is therefore essential that you are able to commute to all East Cheshire sites, and Keele University for an in-situ day every 4-6 weeks. Apprentices work a 10hr shift pattern to include evenings, nights and weekends to gain full experience of the role of a Radiographer.
Diagnostic Radiography Degree Apprentices (Level 6) will work under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Diagnostic Radiographer for the duration of their apprenticeship. They will perform a range of diagnostic imaging procedures in line with local protocols to aid diagnosis and management of patients while developing the skills and knowledge to become registered qualified Radiographer. The post holder will work closely with multi-disciplinary team to provide care and support for service users.
