Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Consultant General Paediatrician to join the team on a fixed-term basis, with a unique portfolio of 4.2 PAs. The post-holder will represent the Trust as Neonatal Lead and must also have strong community paediatrics experience to support our Pre-School Clinics.
The successful applicant will join a team of 8 enthusiastic and dedicated paediatricians who deliver a range of children's services.
Hours per week: 4.2 PA's
Main duties of the job
- Participate on adjusted on call rota on weekdays and weekends.
- Run Pre-school clinics
- Represent Trust as Neonatal Lead.
Within this, the successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly to deliver high quality care with particular emphasis on:
- Optimising use of all resources allocated to the post to develop appropriate services and techniques required to meet clinical needs.
- Adapt, assimilate, and integrate best practice from elsewhere to continuously improve care.
- Develop and maintain robust systems to ensure effective clinical audit in Neonates
- Further develop services as indicated by department needs and work with colleagues to identify additional resources needed to develop the service.
- Clinical assessment, resuscitation and timely onward referral, admission or discharge of all types of patients attending the department. It is expected that Consultants will lead the department during rostered sessions, maintaining situational awareness and redeploying staff to address resource-demand mismatches.
The detailed job plan will be agreed for the individual integrating with existing capacity, acknowledging the need to focus on core service delivery requirements. Otheraspects of the programmed activities/supporting activities will be negotiated.
