Job summary

Applications are invited from motivated, efficient and committed individuals for the position of ICNARC (Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre) Data Clerk, based at the Critical Care Department, Macclesfield General Hospital, Cheshire.

Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be motivated and be prepared to undertake additional duties as and when required. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is vital.

Hours per week: 15 (x2 posts)

Main duties of the job

Duties will include the timely and accurate recording of clinical data ensuring that it is collated and validated for the purpose of submission to the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) which enables the Health Board to analyse its clinical performance and patient outcomes.

The individual will be required to work independently and manage their workload effectively.

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's (grade C or above) or equivalent including English and Math
  • GCSE Information Technology
  • ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)
  • Evidence of diploma level study or equivalent in a subject relating to health care, information technology or data processing

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent in a subject relating to healthcare, information technology or data processing

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge in working with data and information systems.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and Caldicott recommendations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of NHS systems related to medical records.
  • Experience of audits
  • Experience of producing pre-defined reports to a set schedule
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management
  • Good keyboard skills, including speed and accuracy (attention to detail).
