Job summary
This is a whole time substantive Consultant post and attracts 10 Programmed Activities per week.
Ophthalmology is part of the Planned Care Directorate at East Cheshire NHS Trust (ECT) which is one of three Directorates within the Trust. The post holder is expected to have general ophthalmology experience and the post holder is expected to be fully competent in phacoemulsification - cataract surgery.
Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise and full details of the person specification.
Hours per week: 10 PA's
Main duties of the job
The key responsibilities of the role include:
The appointee will take a share of the Consultant Clinical responsibilities within the department. This will include:
- Active involvement and leadership in management and decision making of complex ophthalmic cases.
- Being available during the working week so that medical and nursing staff can communicate and consult freely.
- Close liaison with the Operational Line managers and the Clinical Lead to ensure that waiting list targets and associated standards are achieved.
- Ensuring that management plans are clearly displayed in the notes of patients with complex needs.
