Job summary
This post will be on a fixed term contract from August 2024 to August 2025, but may be extended if mutually beneficial.
The post is offered as a maximum of 1.0 WTE but is open to applicants who wish to work less than full time; this will be discussed at interview stage.
Post-holders will have up to four hours per week (pro rata) of professional development time which can be used to arrange sessions in their own specialty or to undertake research, audits or other projects related to medical education.
The post-holder will work under the guidance of the Medical Education Manager, Manchester University MDGH lead and UBMS phase 2 MDGH lead.
Hours per week: 40Hours of Duty
The hours of this post are 8.00/8.30/9.00 am - 4.00/4.30/5.00 pm.
There will be an occasional requirement to work earlier and/or later, for example during exams or revision periods.
Please note:
- There may be a requirement to provide short term cover for clinical/education fellow colleagues. However, this will be in discussion with the post holder.

Main duties of the job
This is a 12 month fixed term appointment designed to provide a leadership role in undergraduate teaching within the trust in the UGME department. The post-holder will teach medical students in hospital settings and will have opportunity to deliver teaching and mentorship to Junior Doctors in training. The post-holder will also provide pastoral support and supervision for students from both medical schools, and for foundation doctors.
The post-holder will act as a team leader within the team of education fellows working at the trust. This will involves providing support for their education fellow colleagues through regular teaching observation, coordinating team meetings, and providing advice and mentorship.
The post may involve minimal travel to UBMS campus (Crewe), Buckingham University Medical School and NHS Partnership Trusts.
The skills of teaching and assessment are increasingly recognised as essential for trainees in medical specialties at all levels. There is an expectation for the post-holder to be involved in assessment and evaluation of students, including formal university examinations.
Attached to the post is the opportunity to complete a fully funded post-graduate certificate in medical education, or other suitable educational qualification, with protected time for the completion of coursework.
