Trauma & Orthopaedic Service falls within the Allied, Clinical Support & Planned Care Directorate. This is headed by our Associate Director, Alex Borg and our Deputy Medical Director Dr Marta Babores. The Orthopaedic Service is managed by the Operational Manager for Planned Care, Miss Sue Roberts.
The Trauma and Orthopaedic department have a team of nine Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultants, one Associate Specialist and three specialty doctors who provide a full range of Trauma and Orthopaedic procedures with areas of expertise in hip, knee, upper limb, and foot and ankle surgery. Major trauma and spinal conditions are referred to tertiary centres.
Hours per week: 10 PAs
Main duties of the job
This vacancy is a 12 month fixed term post for a surgeon with a particular interest in shoulder and elbow surgery and reports to the Clinical Lead.
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly and achieve high quality care with particular emphasis on:
- Ensuring that optimal use is made of all available resources by developing appropriate services and techniques.
- Working together with colleagues to provide effective management of patients and NHS standards are met for outpatients and inpatients/day cases.
- Participating in direct and planned booking initiatives.
- Ensuring policies for communication with patients and GPs are adhered to.
- Demonstrating a firm commitment to the principles of Clinical Governance.
- The education and training of medical students, doctors, professions allied to Medicine including primary care.
About us
NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level. For new starters not already working to UK Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service will be appointed to the minimum paypoint. The starting salary paypoint can only be increased when there is evidence of relevant, completed year's experience in terms of nature, type and level of role.
