Job summary

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the 'ECT Family' this includes currentEast Cheshire NHS Trust employees,bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust.**

The successful candidate will be responsible for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices: disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, checking, assembly, sterilisation, despatch and tracking, in a controlled environment. In the absence of the Deputy HSDU Manager support the planning and co-ordination of the weekly departmental rotas, ensuring workforce availability is matched to workload. To supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train HSDU technicians.

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

Undertake department audits and assist in the collation of data held on the decontamination information systems.Support the Theatre/HSDU Manager and Deputy HSDU Manager with efficient management of financial budgets by taking responsibility for ordering supplies and consumables for the department, ensuring minimal wastage. Just in time delivery for consumables/supplies and changes in products where efficiencies can be made. To assist in the regular review and updating of Standard Operating Procedures.To ensure all routine testing of decontamination equipment is recorded in line with departmental policy.

  • NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Level 3 in Decontamination Sterile Services or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to undertake Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) Technical certificate

Desirable

  • Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) Technical certificate

Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous experience in all sections of decontamination department
  • Understanding of concept and management of urgent /priority medical devices and non-conformances
  • Experience of supervising less experienced/qualified staff
