An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the team within Emergency Department as a Housekeeper.
The role of the Housekeeper is to improve the patients' experience of being in hospital by working with the ward team to maintain department cleanliness, ensure a good standard of food service and maintain the environment to a high standard. Some examples of your responsibilities are; stock control, placing orders within budgetary constraints, undertaking audits, liaise with other departments and allied health professionals within the hospital and communicating with other external companies.
You will find your contribution is valued and that you are supported through excellent management and a teamwork approach, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected, with the support of Matrons and Senior Sisters, to drive the cleanliness agenda on the Department as follows :
- Take a proactive approach to cleaning, constantly striving to improve the quality of service provided.
- Have an understanding of the Governments' guidelines on the National Standards of Cleanliness.
- Assist with monitoring in line with national Standards of Cleanliness by participating in Multi-disciplinary Cleanliness audit and Matron's ward rounds and contribute to the resulting action plan.
- In conjunction with Senior Sisters / Matron, implement resulting action plan from audit and ensure actions are met and maintained.
- Carry out spot cleaning checks and ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
- Ensure equipment is clean and maintained in good working order as per Trust policy. Escalating faults to appropriate support service including relevant documentation.
- Along with Nursing staff, ensure that on discharge, transfer the bed area and equipment is cleaned in order for a new admission to be received, that documentation is complete and any variances recorded.
- Co-ordinate, with support from Senior Sisters, the deep clean programme for their area.
- Ensure curtains are changed, labelled for cleaning and stored in line with trust policy escalating issues as they arise.
- Complete weekly local checklists for their area.
