Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a Chief Pharmacist to provide professional leadership to our friendly, inclusive and progressive pharmacy team and assume responsibility for the provision, management and strategic development of high-quality, cost-effective pharmacy services and medicines optimisation across the Trust.
We are looking for an individual with significant leadership experience within a secondary care setting with a proven track record for service delivery and improvement and a commitment to the care of both our patients and our staff. Its an especially exciting time to join our organisation as the trust embarks on advancing our services through implementation of a full digital clinical system encompassing the very latest technology to deliver a fully integrated electronic patient record and electronic prescribing and administration system.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will provide strong and effective leadership and advice to ensure proficient Medicines Optimisation; leading to the delivery of safe and high-quality care for our patients. You will also act as the Trusts Accountable Officer for Controlled drugs, providing oversight and ensuring robust governance arrangements are in place at all times. As a senior leader you will sit on the Safety, Quality & Standards Committee and the Clinical Leadership Board and provide assurance to the Trust Board on all matters related to Medicines Optimisation. The successful applicant will also act as the Superintendent Pharmacist for the GPhC Registered Pharmacy premises, as well as ensuring the Trust is compliant with all regulatory requirements of holding a Home Office CD licence, MHRA Wholesalers Dealers Licence, MHRA Manufacturer Licence and running a section 10 Aseptic Unit.
Working closely with clinical and operational colleagues, you will ensure that the strategic plan for pharmacy services and medicine optimisation is aligned and actively contributes to the delivery of the trust strategy. Youwill also oversee the contribution of medicines optimisation to the Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention agenda, ensuring both medicines and pharmacy services are good value for money.
