Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Macmillan Gynae Cancer Navigator to join the team. You will be responsible for communicating with patients and relevant departments to ensure all investigations are performed in a timely manner; either at the start of the pathway or during follow up.
You will establish the patients concerns: help with non-clinical questions and signpost to other services when necessary.
You will work closely with the clinical teams to ensure they can provide the right support for patients and their families. The post holder will also assist the Macmillan Cancer Nurse with their daily workload as well as helping with data collection.
The successful candidates will become a highly valued memberofthe MDT and have the opportunity to develop their skills. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with or supporting patients or clients with complex needs, a good understanding of cancer and advanced communication skills.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an integral part of the Specialist Cancer Care Team, who assists, supports and co-ordinates the pathway for patients through the Cancer Care Pathway. A large part of the role is providing administrative and coordination support to patients, families, consultants, cancer nurse specialists and other staff involved in the cancer pathway. The successful applicant will ensure the efficient channelling and close co-ordination of the patients pathway ensuring robust communication between medical staff, GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other disciplines within the Trust and close liaison with the community staff and oncology teams.
The post holder will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and be willing to undertake on-going training and development. In addition, the post holder will be able to signpost patients and carers to the relevant sources of support and information appropriate to their needs.
