Job summary
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for you to apply for the post of Library & Knowledge Service Manager at East Cheshire NHS Trust. You will work within an amazing new Learning, Education & Development Hub, consisting of the library, various teaching rooms, a simulation suite and a digital lab, due to open in November 2023.
This post will be responsible for the operational management of this brand new facility, working with stakeholders to shape and develop resources. You will work to ensure smooth and seamless working and build new partnerships across the region.
The library team sits within a newly created 'L&D Innovation Team' who will be responsible for the transformation of the Trusts education offer and facilities through technology and digital platforms.
This post will manage a well-established and high performing team consisting of clinical librarian, e-resources librarian and library assistant who deliver a forward thinking library service utilising traditional and innovative methods to improve and develop the library offer.
The library achieved 100% in the last Library Quality Assurance Framework (LQAF) and performed well in the new Quality & Improvement Outcomes Framework (QIOF)
This is a Band 7 post for 30 hours per week over 4 days.
Applicants must hold a professional library qualification.
Main duties of the job
The post is an integral part of the new L&D Innovation Team.
The post holder is responsible for the leadership, management, development, and delivery of the Trust's Library & Knowledge Service to support all staff and learners across the Trust with evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, education and research, and digital upskilling / transformation.
The post holder is responsible for quality assurance of the service and service improvement action plans. They will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, partners, service providers and professionals including other trusts, NHSE, the Chartered Institute of Information & Library Professionals (CILIP), and the Library Information Network North-west (LIHNN) to ensure the service meets local and national requirements.
The post holder will ensure that the service is inclusive and addresses the needs of all staff and learners and will ensure that the end-user experience drives service improvements. They will also ensure the service aligns to local and national People Plan priorities and the wider Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) agenda.
The post holder is responsible for managing the new Learning Education & Development Hub. They will ensure that the facility maximises the use of technology, is efficiently run and accessible to all staff and learners. This will be a flag ship facility, central to our ambition to become a teaching hospital (a core element of our new clinical strategy).
