East Cheshire Trust is committed to ensuring that preceptorship is available to all newly qualified registrants across the Trust.

This is a one-year fixed term contract or secondement opportunity which aims to ensure a cohesive trust wide approach to assure the high-quality delivery of the Preceptorship Framework for newly qualified registrants. The post holder will be expected to build on previous work by working closely with Preceptorship Champions and the Education teams.

The post holder will be responsible for implementing and embedding ECT's preceptorship programme. To ensure that the NHS England standards for Preceptorship are planned, implemented, delivered, and evaluated. Working towards the National Preceptorship Quality Mark.

To develop preceptors throughout the Trust who will be able to effectively support and coach preceptees in practice, with the aim of increasing their competence and confidence in the first-year post qualification.

The post holder will develop strong working relationship at all levels across the Trust and with external partners to develop a culture whereby preceptorship is firmly embedded.

The post holder will be responsible for the monitoring and measuring success against agreed performance indicators in line with the Trusts recruitment and retention strategy.

Main duties of the job

Take a lead role for preceptorship, across the Trust, ensuring that all newly qualified Registered Nurses; Nursing Associates, Midwives, Healthcare scientists and Allied Health Professional (AHP) staff have a structured programme of support from their designated preceptor and from the Trust as a whole.

To be an influencer and change agent through being a professional resource/role model in supporting teams in providing preceptorship. Act as a role model by demonstrating leadership and expertise, and by maintaining credibility within East Cheshire NHS Trust, the wider health care community, and external agencies, ensuring a positive image of the Trust is maintained.

Co-ordinate and lead on the development of the Preceptorship framework across the Trust. Directly supporting the Head of Education, Head of Allied Health Professions, and L&D Innovation Lead in leading and delivering workforce development projects.

To lead on the development and review of policies relating to Preceptorship across the Trust. To monitor the implementation of policies and clinical guidance, ensuring reviews take place, including influencing improvements to preceptorship.
