Job summary

The ophthalmology service is looking for appropriately trained staff to support clinics and use your skills and experience.

To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate your knowledge and your dedication to high standards of patient care. You must be a team player with excellent communication skills and have the ability to work using your own initiative as well as part of the wider team.

Main duties of the job

The role of a bank Optometrist is to support in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high-quality Ophthalmic care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the optometrist will ensure patients receive the highest level of care, delivered using a holistic, patient-focused approach, while ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained

Essential

  • Registered optometrist with the General Optical Council.
  • BSc (HONS) in Optometry
  • Demonstrable further education in specialist optometric/ophthalmology care.

Desirable

  • College of Optometrists higher qualifications.
  • Independent prescribing qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of three years post qualification experience in hospital optometric practice
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent in one or more areas of specialist optometric practice.

Desirable

  • Five years post qualification experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Specialist knowledge of hospital optometry
  • To have undertaken advanced clinical training through continuing professional development.
