Job summary

This post is an excellent opportunity to progress your career and is suitable for experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapists, or Band 6 Occupational Therapists looking for experience in a different field.

On joining the team, you will support in delivery of Occupational Therapy in the outpatient setting, supporting junior staff, managing complex cases and liaising and working alongside the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and timely assessment, treatment and discharge of patients.

We are a forward thinking and evolving Outpatient Therapy service, offering a range of staff experiences from Therapy Assistants through to Advanced Clinical Specialists. Each discipline is supported by a professional lead, with strong links with GP's, Consultants and local Universities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-rounded HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with experience of working in the NHS or having had extensive placements within the organisation.

Service development and innovation is strongly encouraged alongside CPD, regular peer review and in-service training, participation in audit and research. The service has strong links with the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre at Keele University and regularly participates in research trials.

Hours per week: 22.5 (there may be the further option for more or less hours for the successful candidate)

Main duties of the job

  • To act as part of the Clinical and Administrative Outpatient Therapies teams for centres across East Cheshire and take an active role in assisting in the organisation and delegation of duties within the Outpatient Therapies team and aid in the dissemination of knowledge and duties required to maintain the high standards associated with each East Cheshire clinic, and build specific ties with the East Cheshire GP's and provide innovation to further improve the service.
  • To act as a Clinical Specialist, providing a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment for rheumatological / musculoskeletal / orthopaedic patients. Using evidence based principles / current best practice, specialist skills and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To support the Team Manager and Advanced Clinical Specialists in the day to day running of the clinics and to assist in service improvement initiatives in area of work.
  • To regularly supervise, educate and support more junior staff, assistants and external students on placement.
