Job summary

Under the direction of the manual handling manager. The postholder is responsible for ensuring the development and delivery of manual handling training to all clinical and non-clinical staff and coordinating training activity to ensure the organisation complies with moving and handling legislation and is compliant with external standards e.g. CQC.

The role requires an enthusiastic, confident trainer with a sound knowledge of patient handling practices and equipment,

Main duties of the job

  1. To promote a safe environment and safe patient manual handling through effective training.

  2. Have a visible presence within both the clinical setting and other departments to provide training around manual handling practice

  3. Undertake audits as required; to meet policy compliance.

  • Must have a recognised relevant Health or Social care professional qualification
  • Registered Nurse (NMC), with evidence of extensive post-registration experience in a clinical setting
  • Chartered Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Ergonomist

Experience

  • Evidence of extensive post-registration experience in a clinical setting where patient moving and handling activities and equipment were used
  • Data analysis and report writing
  • Resolving conflict
  • Working effectively in multi-disciplinary teams

Knowledge

  • An interest in and knowledge of current legislation/guidance related to manual handling
  • Knowledge of specialist equipment
  • Understand how to develop surveys and undertake audits
