Advanced MSK Physiotherapy Practitioner

Job summary

As part of the Advanced Practice workforce this post will deliver highly effective and efficient clinical care as part of the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service, promoting the specialty and innovating in service provision. The right person, in the right place, at the right time.

The successful candidate will work solely within the MSK and pain integrated pathway providing Tier 2 management of MSK Patients. This will include Orthopaedic triage, referral for imaging and delivering corticosteroid injection where appropriate.

To deliver programmes of supported patient self-management, in ways that facilitate behavioral change, optimise individuals' physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals and independence, and that minimise the need for pharmacological interventions, using a person-centred approach.

This role would be ideally suited to an established 8a advanced Physiotherapy practitioner or someone wishing to develop into an advanced role. A band 7-8a development post may be offered to the right candidate and would progress to 8a on completion of set competencies.

Main duties of the job

  • To work autonomously as an expert clinician, delivering a high standard of clinical service, performing advanced level of triage, clinical assessment, diagnostic and intervention of musculoskeletal presentation, including those with highly complex presentations.
  • Contribute to the management, operational delivery and evaluation of the specialist MSK service and Integrated MSK and Chronic pain service.
  • Provide professional support and education to colleagues in primary and secondary care and MSK services, across a range of levels and disciplines, to ensure best practice and most appropriate management of patients within MSK Pathways.
  • To provide leadership and be a key contributor to service design, improvement, research and audit within both MSK and orthopaedic triage, Tier 2 delivery.
  • To undertake the supervision of allocated professional staff members and students via a formal appraisal system.
