Job summary
The Department administratively resides within the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital).
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department is based on one site in Grimsby although few antenatal and gynaecology clinics sessions also occur in Louth and Mablethorpe, 30 miles to the west. The maternity unit, NICU and administrative offices are all located within the Building in Grimsby. Antenatal clinics, gynaecology out-patients and colposcopy and the gynaecology in-patients beds are all located within the newly-opened Women's Health Unit, again within the Building.
In 2023/24 there were 2,121 deliveries in the maternity unit. There is consultant anaesthetist cover during working hours and a 24-hour epidural service is in operation. Home confinements are well established in the area and are the responsibility of the midwifery staff.
Main duties of the job
As an employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trusts patients..
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-
To ensure the provision of a first class clinical service
To provide effective leadership to junior doctors and medical students
To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's and Operational Group's service plans

PROPOSED DUTY ROTA
The post is full time offering 10 PAs (plus an additional 2 PAs for Direct Clinical Care). You will be required to cover the second 1:7 on-call rota. The timetable will rotate depending upon the Consultant with whom the doctor is working. The post will offer the opportunity for experience in Colposcopy, minimum Access Surgery, Ultrasound and Infertility and Out Patient Hysteroscopy. The post holder will be encouraged to develop a special interest in one of the sub-specialties according to the need of the department and interest of the post holder.
The CME is on Friday afternoons.
Long days, nights and weekend cover will be a 1:7 full shift rota. Full prospective cover is in operation.

- Registerable Medical Degree, eg MBBS.
- Full Registration with the GMC, and a Licence to Practise.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Evidence of 4 years (FTE) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent training) of which at least 2 year's training must be in relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training.
Desirable
- Applicant's knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Occupational Experience and Abilities

- Relevant specialty clinical knowledge at the appropriate level: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.

- Capability of proven independently managing labour ward and gynaecological emergencies when Consultant not on site
