Job summary
The service administratively resides within the Family Services division. The current post is created to tackle the increasing demand from obstetrics and gynaecology service and to ensure safe obstetrics care.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology service is offered across two main sites; Scunthorpe General hospital and Diana Princess of Wales Hospital. The Scunthorpe General Hospital covers antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics, ambulatory, colposcopy clinics and theatre sessions. We provide level 2 neonatal care with the central Delivery suite located next to the NICU within the same building as Ward 26, the antenatal and postnatal ward. A Gynaecology assessment unit (24/7) is provided at SDEC (Same day emergency care) and IAAU (integrated acute assessment unit). Inpatient gynaecology beds are provided with a general surgical ward, ward 28.
Main duties of the job
The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology procedures in this busy DGH.
The appointee must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice.
The appointee will:
Provide Labour and emergency cover daytime as well as out of hours at Scunthorpe General Hospital
Should not be on duty for labour ward whilst being timetabled for gynaecology clinic or antenatal clinic or private practice.
Provide general gynaecology and obstetrics services comprising outpatient clinics, ambulatory and theatre.
