Locum Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology ( Special Interest in Maternal Medicine)
We are seeking to recruit a Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join our forward-thinking service. The successful appointee will join as 8th Consultant colleague in the department providing services primarily at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.
Obstetrics and Gynaecology services
The service administratively resides within the Family Services division. The current post is created to tackle the increasing demand from obstetrics and gynaecology service and to ensure safe obstetrics care.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology service is offered across two main sites; Diana Princess of Wales Hospital and Scunthorpe General hospital. The Diana Princess of wales Hospital covers antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics, ambulatory, colposcopy clinics and theatre sessions. We provide level 2 neonatal care. The maternity unit, neonatal, NICU and administrative offices are all located within the Acorn suite. Gynaecology assessment unit (24/7) with Gynaecology services provided through SDEC.
Main duties of the job
The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology procedures in this busy DGH
The appointee must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice.
The appointee will:
- Develop and lead fetal medicine services
- Lead early pregnancy services
- Provide Labour and emergency cover daytime as well as out of hours at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital.
- Should not be on duty for labour ward whilst being timetabled for gynaecology clinic or antenatal clinic, private practice or covering another site.
- If required by operational pressure or service changes, pick up sessions at the Scunthorpe or Goole District General Hospital
- Provide a general gynaecology and obstetrics services comprising outpatient clinics, ambulatory and theatre
