Job summary
The Advance Health Care Assistant is a member of a multidisciplinary Departmental team working within ophthalmology who undertakes diagnostic and healthcare duties in relation to patient care in the Acute Hospital setting. Delegated work and duties will be assigned and carried out under the direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with the trust competencies. Where additional skills training is identified as required in the job description the post holder will not undertake those duties until training has been undertaken (except as part of the supervised learning experience).
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a post within our Ophthalmic Departments across site for an Advanced Health Care Assistant to undertake further training to develop skills to support the work of the clinicians. This will include the measurement of patient's visual acuity and visual fields as well as the use of equipment such as the OCT (Optical Coherent Tomography) machine used in the diagnosis and management of ophthalmic conditions.
