Job summary

Operating within the Directorate of the Chief Operating Officer, Path Links is a single management network pathology service across two acute Trusts, via seven hospital sites throughout Greater Lincolnshire.

A single Pathology Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Dedalus iLaboratory/Apex is in operation across all sites and disciplines supplemented by a number of commercial systems and 'in-house' bespoke I.T. applications. Funding has been secured to replace the LIMS system with the project to complete by end March 2025.

Main duties of the job

Technical / Operational Duties

  • The post holder will provide a lead role in coordinating the maintenance of IM&T systems within the Pathology Directorate both during the normal working day ensuring that local and national guidelines are adhered to and any change in one Directorate, does not adversely affect another.
  • The post holder will take part in the 'out of hours' rota, providing 365x24x7 IT support for Pathology, with other members of the Path Links Pathology Computer Support Group (CSG), to include liaison with the system suppliers and Trust IT personnel as required.
  • The post holder will help coordinate the CSG which consists of Directorate leads from Blood Sciences, Microbiology, Blood Transfusion and Cellular Pathology.
  • The post holder will make recommendations and contribute to the final decision in the purchase of computer hardware and software. This will involve inventory maintenance to deliver a rolling programme of equipment replacement.
  • The post holder will work as part of a core support team to provide high quality, efficient IM&T service support for Path Links and the Trust, including support for the Path Links IM&T System and Technical Support Managers, Directorate leads and other IT professionals as required.

Essential

  • oSound educational background to A-Level or equivalent IT qualification
  • oAdvanced ECDL or other equivalent IT qualification
  • oEducated to at minimum GCSE level in Maths and English

  • oEvidence of academic achievement, preferably to Degree level in IT or equivalent experience
